The “Pink Obsession”
collection, by Karla Bratfisch, will be one of the Artexpo New York 2013’s
highlights
Inspired by the song “Pink”, by the american
band Aerosmith, the plastic artist Karla Bratfisch will be releasing the “Pink Obsession” collection in one of
the main art events of the world: the Artexpo
New York. At first, even without the presence of Steven Tyler, Joe Perry,
Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer and Brad Whitford, the Museum will be the stage of a
visual concert with colors that will be like Steven Tyler’s voice. Instead of
his high notes, there will be a melody of intense shades ready to reverberate
everywhere.
Released in 1997, in the album called “Nine
Lives”, the first verses of the song express Karla’s every single feeling,
which can be seen through the eyes of the ones who observe the pieces: “Pink
it’s my new obsession. Pink it’s not even a question. Pink on the lips of your
lover, because Pink is the love you discover”.
According to the artist, while she created the
pieces, the song was constantly on repeat. “Even listening to it on and on, it
always felt like the first time. Every word sang was a flick, which slowly, got
a shape in the still white canvas”, remembers Karla.
The “Pink
Obsession” series was designed using a mixed technique with acrylic on
fabric. The pieces will be on display between March 21st and 24th
at Pier 92 in New York (United States). Great artists such as Andy Warhol and
Robert Indiana were some of the participants from the previous editions of the Artexpo, which has 34 years of history
and tradition in the art’s universe.
The artist
At the age of 20, Karla Bratfisch had already developed nine collections (“Pop Art”, “Devaneios”, “Woodstock”, “Traços Soltos”,
“Reestricted”, “Aquarela”, “Caos e Cores”, “Nonsense” e “Pink Obsession”); painted more than 70 pictures and
participated in about 50 exhibitions in Brazil and abroad. “My wish is to be
able to do this forever, without being concerned about the time”, says the
artist.
